Web Audio Conference 2017

Venue

The conference will take place in the People’s Palace (PP) building, Mile End campus.

Sunday Arrivals

On Sunday 20 August, a pre-conference informal session will take place in the Half Moon pub.

Web Audio Conference (WAC) Registration

On arrival

On arrival, delegates should go to the registration desk located in the PP foyer where they can pick up their WAC conference bags containing a delegate badge, lunch vouchers, a conference dinner ticket, a copy of the conference programme and other conference materials.

All delegates should pre-register for the WAC conference by using the registration online system (see Registration page on the WAC conference website).

If you are not registered, you will not be able to receive your conference pack, nor will you be able to attend any sessions.

The online system for WAC onsite registrations will be open until Wednesday 23 August.

 

Registration Desk opening times

Monday, 21 August: 08:15 hrs – 18:00 hrs (PP foyer)

Tuesday, 22 August: 08:00 hrs – 18:00 hrs (PP foyer)

Wednesday, 23 August: 08:00 hrs – 16:30 hrs (PP foyer)*

*Registration for the Audio Mostly (AM) conference and the WAC / AM Joint Day.

 

WAC+AM reduced conference attendance

Delegates who have registered for the WAC+AM reduced conference rate will be able to attend both conferences (this includes WAC and AM conference attendance between Monday 21 August and Saturday 26 August).

If you have registered for a WAC+AM reduced conference attendance, you will be able to pick up your conference material for WAC from Monday 21 August and for AM from Wednesday 23 August.

  

Refreshments, Lunch

All coffee / tea breaks are served in the PP foyer.

Lunches on Monday and Tuesday are served in the Curve. Please present your lunch voucher when attending lunch.

Lunch on Wednesday is served in the Octagon.

Please consult the programme for serving times.

 

Wi-Fi Access

Delegates will be able to find their guest login codes in their conference pack.

Eduroam will also be available (for participants from other academic institutions).

 

WAC Oral Sessions: Monday 21 August & Tuesday 22 August

All WAC oral sessions on Monday and Tuesday will take place in the Skeel lecture theatre, PP building.

 

WAC / AM Joint Day: Wednesday 23 August

WAC / AM Joint Day oral sessions and tutorials will take place in the Skeel, PP1 and PP2 (see programme in your conference pack for room locations).

Both WAC and AM delegates will be able to choose what they attend on the WAC / AM Joint Day. The WAC / AM Joint Day programme is listed here.

If you have registered for the WAC and / or AM conference in advance, you are free to attend any tutorials. Please note that you cannot register for the attendance of the tutorials only.

 

Speaker Equipment, Monday 21 August – Wednesday 23 August

All presenters have been notified of the standard equipment available in the lecture rooms in advance.

Please note that speakers need to notify the organisers in advance if they require any special audio-visual equipment. The organisers will not be able to cater for any special equipment needs onsite.

All speakers are advised to turn up 15 minutes before their session start in order to test their presentation.

 

Live Streaming, Monday 21 August & Tuesday 22 August

Please be advised that video recording and live streaming will be taking place during the conference. By agreeing to the terms and conditions of attending, you provide your consent to be recorded (directly or indirectly). If for any reason you do not wish to appear in the video please tell us so that we can take appropriate steps to ensure you are not included.

Unless specified otherwise, all speakers agree to be filmed during their presentation.

The video will be used by the University for live-streaming and archival of the event. 

It may also be included in University publications or in University promotional materials and may also be published on the University website.

WAC Poster and Demo Sessions 1 and 2, Monday 21 August & Tuesday 22 August

All WAC poster and demo sessions will take place in the PP foyer (ground floor and balcony).

Poster / demo Craze Sessions 1 & 2, Monday and Tuesday, 14:00 – 14:15 hrs

The poster / demo Craze Sessions 1 and 2 will consist of a short teaser where all poster/demo presenters can give a short pitch about why you should come to their poster/demo.

Poster / demo Sessions 1 & 2: Monday & Tuesday 16:00 – 18:00 hrs.
Presenters in poster / demo Sessions 1 and 2 are expected to bring their own equipment; any additional equipment booked in advance will be made available on the day by the organisers.

Social Programme, Monday 21 August – Wednesday 23 August

Concert 1: Monday 21 August, 20:00 hrs

The concert will take place at the Oxford House Theatre (Bethnal Green). This venue is around a 30-minute walk from Queen Mary, or around 20 minutes on Bus or Tube.

Conference Dinner: Tuesday 22 August, 19:30 hrs

Delegates have been asked to confirm any special dietary requirements when registering online. Organisers are unable to cater for any special dietary requirements onsite.

 

Concert 2 (joint with Audio Mostly): Wednesday 23 August, 19:00 hrs

The concert on Wednesday will take place at 93 Feet East.

The concert is hosted in conjunction with the Audio Mostly Conference, where a program of electroacoustic music will be put on, followed by a DJ, in a lively heart of East London.
